Kristoph Gavin (Japanese: 牙琉霧人 Kirihito Garyū) also referred to as "the Coolest Defense in the West" is the main antagonist of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Prior to the events of Turnabout Trump Kristoph was a renowned defense attorney with his own law firm. He was the boss and mentor of Apollo Justice until his conviction following his murder of "Shadi Smith", also known by his true alias: Zak Gramarye.

Kristoph, in spite of his outwardly cool and calm demeanor, is deep down a deeply paranoid and egocentric man with little regard to others; he constantly strives for perfection and control.

Kristoph has a habit of tensing his hand when he lies as revealed through Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney's percieve mechanic. This reveals one of his most iconic visual traits: the scar on his hand. Which Vera Misham refers to as "the Devil".
